100 Inventions That Made History By DK
This book is really thought provoking ! We take so much for granted, Image life without wheels ! Have you every thought how people managed without lifts ! Toys without batteries, chocolate, fireworks, cinema and antibiotics !This book has five chapters, On the Move, Getting Connected, At Your Convenience, Work and Play, Medical Marvels. Full of photos, sketches and drawings and written in a child friendly way.The best books are the ones you don't even know your learning, because your so absorbed in reading it ! History and science at the same time, brilliant ! A great addition to any bookshelf ! DK Fantastic encyclopedia for an elementary kid. Easy to read and comprehend. DK Brief, but important information allows not only to expand the horizon of the child, but also to increase the level of proficiency in English! The presence of illustrations helps the child 9 years to better remember the text, I recommend for home reading and school projects. DK My son loves it! Lots of interesting facts to learn. Worth every penny! DK Pleasingly, the book includes both an illustration of each invention and a clear image of the inventor (photograph or drawing). It is well done and better than many equivalent books. However, although the text is well written, we found it difficult to flow down a page without being distracted by side information. Children are used to books with pages that have information presented in a way that draws the eye left, right and centre but what ever happened to presenting text from top to bottom of a page (maybe that traditional and out of date way takes courage?) the ladybird book of inventions I had as a child was far easier to flow through and absorb.
