At its origin, Untapped was designed by its organizers as an event equally focused on quality music and beer, a balance uncommon at music festivals and rarely found at beer events. The aim is not about the quantity of selection but rather the curating of the best in both craft beer and emerging local and national bands. A few of our favorite things so to speak! The addition of local artisans, quality food vendors, and unique locations add texture to each event and create a vibrant village of activity. What started as a self-serving shindig designed to showcase our personal interests turned out to be something that resonates in a way that is meaningful to us and our supporters!
As the Paste Untapped Festival continues to evolve, organizers are excited to announce that on November 16, 2013 Paste Untapped is coming to Discovery Green in Houston. “We have many close friends in the Houston area and are thrilled to launch the festival in Houston with such strong local support,” says organizer Corey Pond of The Common Table. “It really is a tremendous blessing to have the support of the great army of fine folks behind Houston Beer Week. In what turned out to be a perfect storm, the Houston Beer Week board was considering some significant changes this year and we were beyond excited to be able to step in and ensure there is a cornerstone event to cap off the November 9th to 16th Beer Week. To further strengthen the festival’s local voice (an important criteria for us to successfully replicate the uniqueness of the event) we have a very strong relationship with and are big supporters of Houston based Open the Taps. We could not imagine a more ideal scenario than having so many local players driving the inaugural Houston Untapped.” With dates pending in both Atlanta and Nashville, Houston Untapped will be the 4th Edition and the first to occur outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

We will be pre-processing people in lines (checking IDs, ensuring you’re in the proper line, etc.) to ensure the initial admission lines move as quickly as possible. Within the event the beers/breweries in higher demand will likely have lines but we expect them to move quickly. While at the event please be courteous to those behind you in line and try to limit conversations with brewery representatives when possible. Bottom line, if there’s a line that means it’s probably pretty good.
